Acting used to be my main passion. Back when people told me that being hearing impaired would keep me from doing
many things in my life, I set about doing all the things that seemed impossible. One of those was getting up in front
of a group of people and vulnerably putting my greatest flaw to the test.
Mostly in my early school years I was a cypher...a mediocre student in elementary and a social outcast in high school.
The activity that kept me from fading into the washed out background of the social cliques was acting on stage. I launched
headlong into drama, and soon was getting parts in every production that was put on in a period of three years of my high
school life.

Attending Sonoma State University forced me to make a choice. I learned the hard way that the acting world is not
as gentle and forgiving as I had dreamed it would be, and found that in the end, design was more rewarding as a career.
During my time there, I would go through various phases of personal upheaval as I grew up.

My first set design and third acting show at NGHS |
On a whim, during my junior year in high school I designed a set for a production of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and
discovered my passion for the work involved. The rest of my time in high school I felt torn between acting and design,
and constantly went back and forth between the two.

A final good-bye |
I went through some light and dark times. At some points I was wannabe goth/poet. In other points I tried
to grow out any facial hair i could. I grew depressed on and off, and had a patch of bad relationships. It wasnt
until I met my current girlfriend, Erica, that my life straightened out a bit. I stopped trying to pretend, because
I had found someone who loved who I was at the core. And from that point on life became easier to love.

Now, four years after starting at Sonoma State, I've added five mainstage designs to my portfolio and I'm on my way to
an MFA at San Diego State! And there's some history for you.
